Unveiling a Unusual Steam Game Trial: Controlling a Turdy Character in a Mission to Reach the Toilet

Steam Next Fest is now live, and gamers have discovered numerous entertaining creations from small studios. Yet, one catches the eye for its quirky concept. Called Unko Technica, this retro-inspired side-scrolling game features a hero that is actually a dung attempting to travel to a toilet. As a fun fact, "Unko" translates to "poop."

The gameplay is straightforward: press a one button to leap. In 150 levels, you'll face boss fights and access a shop to purchase customizations for your fecal avatar.

Time your movements carefully, since one mistake means starting over. Leap on air pockets to hurl your character higher, navigate crumbling platforms, and activate triggers to reveal hidden paths. Earn UN-KOINS and use them on challenging levels as gameplay intensifies.

Graphically, the demo features vibrant environments and catchy music score. Its minimalist visual style featuring moving geometric shapes evokes memories of players of classic titles like Earthbound.

Although hard to think of previous releases where you are a piece of feces, gaming often featured scatological themes. As an illustration, in Death Stranding, you can create explosives from protagonist droppings. Titles such as Palworld and Ark: Survival Evolved employ manure as fertilizer. Naturally, this theme appears a lot in the adventure The Stick of Truth.

Despite its humorous idea, Unko Technica has already received impressive awards, including winning at a major publisher's GYAAR Studio in 2023. A playable preview is available currently on Steam, with the complete version scheduled to launch on PC on November 19.
